Laboratorio di Microscopie Avanzate
Electron Microscopy
Historical information
The laboratory of Microscopy was founded in 1961 (Centre of Electron Microscopy of the Turin University) to promote the research in the electron microscopy area as an interfaculty Centre ( Agricolture science, Economy, Medicine and Surgery, Veterinary science, Math, Physics and Natural Science). In its long history CME produced hundred of scientific works about biological ultrastructures- ranging, for example, from medical microbiology to vegetable virology, fom general pathology and pathologic anatomy to biochemistry, fom forensic medicine to biocristallography, from comparative anatomy to botany, from veterinary and human anatomy to micology and vegetable patology, from histology to the collation of biological archives for cultural property, from zoology to parassitology- and has supplied works for the control, for example, of various biomaterials, of archaeologic interest textile materials, of cellular culture and for the advanced methodology in the field of biological ultrastructures. In this way the CME has stored up a unique know how in the biological electron microscopy range and in the related technology.
